August Holiday to Northumberland.
Another visit to Northumberland, this time without the kids. It was right at the start of August, and we were very lucky with the weather which was warm and dry all week, even if the clouds look ominous in some of the pictures.
The waterfall is Roughtin Linn (not to be mistaken for Roughting Linn which isn't far away), in the distant foothills of The Cheviot. It was quite a trek to get to it, not in distance, but in bushwacking in the wrong direction, before re-tracing my steps and discovering it was 20 yds from the path, if you stepped over a small barbed wire fence.
We managed to get to quite a few places we haven't been before, Roughtin Linn being one of them but also, Alnwick beach, Lindisfarne north beach, and Ross Back Sands among others.
